Sewing Inspiration: Summer Kimonos and Beach Cover-Ups
As much as I love dressing up, I am pretty much ready to cast off as may layers as possible the minute I get home. To me, bliss is lounging around the house on a Sunday in a lightweight kimono with a cup of coffee (or a mimosa, depending on what kind of Sunday it is). Problem is, the only robe I have right now is in a wintery fleece — too heavy for the season and decidedly sweat-inducing.
Heather Lou recently posted her version of Named Patterns' Asaka Kimono. She looks friggin' fabulous and now I want one; I figure it can double as a house robe and beach cover-up. While I wait for the pattern to arrive, I'm brainstorming some styling and color options. I love the yellow silk used in the Named lookbook, but I'm also digging the pinks and teals used in the Tallulah and Hope and Anthropologie styles above.
