Let's Trade: Vanilla Extract

I bake a lot. Like a whole lot. And when I bake I use a lot of vanilla extract. Like a whole lot. So making the switch to fair trade Vanilla Extract made me a little nervous because I really care about the quality. Well I am happy to report that I have found the Fair Trade version to not only be as yummy but essentially the same price as the other vanilla I've been using. Horray!

The best part about the trade

Fair trade vanilla is becoming increasingly easy to find at most major grocery stores. I found this same brand at Ralphs and Whole Foods but you can also buy it online here.

The price is essentially the same making it a sacrifice free trade. Easy stuff.

The hardest part about the trade

Nothing, this is an easy one!

 

quick tip: when baking cakes try increasing the amount of vanilla by 50%. For example, if the recipe calls for 1 tsp. use 1.5 tsp. I find it adds incredible flavor without adding unnessary sugary sweetness.
